Professor Bassey Andian Okon is a Professor of Linguistics & Nigerian Languages at University of Calabar, Nigeria.

She is an experienced Linguist who has taught, mentored and groomed many. In her 37 years as a scholar, she has published extensively in local/international fora and is highly sought for conference presentations in her field. She holds membership in 11 Professional bodies, of which includes Linguistics & Nigerian Languages, West African Languages Congress (WALS), Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN) etc. She is highly experienced with task, duties and responsiblities in the University and society. Some experiences worth mentioning includes Chairman, Departmental Graduate Board, Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies: 2015- till date. Prof. is also an Occasional Assessor for 7 Journals, amongst which she is the Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Linguistics & Communication (IJOLAC) Vol. 4 No. 1 2017, Vol 5. No. 1 2018.
